From desert to swamp…

Hello from the swamp!

In order to leave Galveston today, we had to take a ride on the Dewitt C. Greer Ferry across the Galveston Harbour.  Since you can get out and walk around on the ferry, many people approached the Truckster and admired it as we went gliding across the water.

After reaching land, we made a stop in Rayne, Louisiana, which is also known as “Frog City.”  Not only is it the Frog Capital of the world, but it’s also the “Lousiana City of Murals.”  The combination of the two has created a lot of frog murals around the city.  The reason the city is known as the “Frog Capital of the World” is because throughout its history, Rayne shipped hundreds of thousands of frogs across the globe.  However, frogs do live around the city because they are attracted to wetlands, rice fields and water.

Gabe’s Cajun Food restaurant was calling our name for some lunch so we subsided and ate po’ boys and french fries while admiring pictures of the local little league teams and the frog curtains.

We’ll be in New Orleans for a few days and you can catch us at the Zephyrs minor league baseball game tomorrow night!
