Truckster to HOTlanta

Well, after saying goodbye to Donald and Mickey in Orlando, we hit the road, battling sporadic thundershowers the whole way through Florida. Today was great, because it was both entertaining AND educational. When we made our way past Gainesville, I convinced Stephanie (with a bologna sandwich) to pull over and visit the Solar Walk. Pretend Michaelangelo meets NASA—that can best describe this interesting model created by Elizabeth Indianos. The entire solar system model spans nearly a mile and is scaled at 4 billion: 1. Here is a video with some narration (Warning: I’m not to up to snuff on my solar system facts)!

VIDEO TO COME SOON!!!

After leaving the solar system, Stephanie demanded we pull the Truckster over when she spotted the World’s Largest Peanut Monument off I-75 in Georgia. After a solid viewing that was more like a religious experience to me, Stephanie also insisted we leave. I always appreciate a good “World’s Largest,” “World’s Only,” or “World’s First.” It’s mind-blowing that with the world so big, people can STILL invent things, and, invent them BIGGER than before! Peanut monuments…who knew they could get that big?!

A few miles north of the mammoth peanut, we spotted a Confederate Nuclear Missile. Now, I’m not too sure what it was doing in a gas station parking lot, but we took a few pics and jetted—that amount of nuclear power and gas began to make mre nervous…for the Truckster’s safety of course (I’m probably the bravest person I know, naturally).

Finally, we capped the day with some chili dogs and a form of Orange slushi from The Varsity in Atlanta. Nothing says the south like “What’ll ya have!”

We’ll be in Atlanta for a few days, so if you’re in town…look for us!
